-Bryce Roux
I grew up an avid fan of sports logos and uniforms. From Chris Creamer’s Sports Logos page to concept boards, it was the sports aesthetics and branding that first caught my eye. During the spring of 2019, as a freshman, I started as a Student Manager for the
Sebastian River High School Football Team.
As a Student Manager, my duties over time transitioned from setting up drills to building and maintaining the cleanliness of helmets. It was here where I first discovered the career path of an Equipment Manager. Alternating seasonally, I worked for both the SRHS football and basketball teams all 4 years of high school. I began to develop the understanding and importance of the behind-the-scenes work that is done daily to help a team prepare for that week’s upcoming game.

After graduating high school in May of 2022, I moved to the heart of the United States to attend the University of Kansas to major in Sport Management. Less than two weeks after my high school graduation, I had started working at the Bill Self Basketball Camps as part of the competitive application process at KU to become a Student Equipment Manager for Kansas Athletics.

Selected to be hired as a full-time student manager, I worked year-round for Kansas Athletics for 3 football seasons (preseason, regular, postseason, & the summer practice months) from July 2022 to December 2024. During that time, I was trained as a Seeker/Monarc Operator for the University of Kansas Football Team working with QB’s, Tight-End’s, & Special Teams.

I assisted with inventory, fitting, and daily maintenance for the Jayhawks 120+ football players practice and weight room apparel and developed numerous skills such as attention to detail and the importance of an EQ staff working as one well-oiled machine to complete the numerous day-to-day tasks demanded of Equipment Services. In the locker room, I was responsible for the weekly decal “build” of game and practice helmets, focusing on the proper fit & design for individual players as requested. (One of my favorite aspects of the EQ job.)
I gained invaluable experience
working EQ for the Kansas Jayhawks
for two Post-Season Bowl Games:
The 2022 Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tennessee
& The 2023 Guaranteed Rate Bowl
in Phoenix, Arizona.

6-month Senior Year Internship
EQ Manager Intern
for the 2025 Season
in charge of CoachComm/C2P
for the 1st time at the FCS Level.

For my senior year of college, I decided to further develop my leadership skills and true understanding of running a smaller EQ department by interning for the summer of 2025 with the Campbell University Football Team in Buies Creek, North Carolina. I arrived at Campbell University at the beginning of June 2025, and served as second-in-command behind a graduate assistant, who was the Interim Director of Equipment Operations for the Campbell Camels.

After the Graduate Assistant left in July 2025 for another opportunity, I led the Campbell Football Equipment Room as well as oversaw a staff of student equipment managers for a period of two weeks while Campbell University searched for a new Director of Equipment Operations.

This gave me the opportunity to experience the responsibilities of running an equipment room independently as well as the responsibility of staff management and scheduling, reporting directly to the Director of Football Operations.

Asked to remain for Campbell Football's 2025 football season, I worked the final four months (August-November 2025) of the internship alongside the new Director of Equipment Operations and continued to assist in supervising and leading the team of student equipment managers.

While serving a 6-month internship in 2025 with the Equipment Room at Campbell University,
I was tasked with set up, operation,
and break down of the
Campbell Football Team's
CoachComm X-System.

I was in charge of conducting all pre-game testing & diagnostics to troubleshoot any difficulties that occurred during both practice
& all 12 regular season games of the 2025 season as well as implementing C2P helmet communication for offense & defense
for the first time at the FCS Level.
Upon the completion of my internship in December 2025, I created this .PDF Manual to assist the Equipment Room & all future managers with the specific set-up of the Campbell CoachComm system.
Seeker/Monarc Operator
I am highly skilled in adapting technology to the EQ room. While at Kansas, I was tasked with maintaining & operating the Monarc, an intelligent touchscreen pass, kick, punt robot.

Helmet Design
Taking safety on the field seriously, I strive for football helmet “perfection” and have been responsible for the weekly “build” of game & practice helmets (decal, design, tighten hardware, clean) for proper individual player fit and maintained helmets during games, including Coach 2 Player Communication Systems. I also hold all other elements of my EQ job to that high standard & adapt it to any sport locker room I may be working in.
